Out of IRAQ

Bring the Troops HOME!!!!

Vote for Deborah Vollmer for Congress in the Democratic Primary, on February 12, 2008.

It is time to elect a Congress that will end our country’s shameful occupation of IRAQ, and bring our troops home—a Congress that will stop the funding for this WAR!!

U.S. Representative Chris Van Hollen continues to have a mixed record with regard to his votes in Congress to fund this illegal, immoral, and destructive war and occupation of Iraq!  On September 26, 2007, he voted for a “Continuing Resolution” which contained an estimated 14 billion dollars for the war and occupation of Iraq with no conditions that this money be used for troop withdrawal.  This vote not only provided for continued funding of the war at current levels; it also had the effect of delaying the debate and the vote on subsequent war funding bills. Van Hollen’s voting record on Iraq War funding since September 26 has been mixed, on some occasions he has voted for funding, on others against. Van Hollen has previously stated publicly that he does not support immediate U.S. withdrawal from Iraq, does not favor setting dates for withdrawal, and does not favor using the appropriations process in Congress to bring about withdrawal of U.S. troops.  He refuses to join the Out of Iraq Caucus in Congress.

There is an alternative.  Deborah A. Vollmer is running in the Democratic Primary for the 8th Congressional District seat.  In Congress, Deborah will support immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq.  She will support additional spending only sufficient to allow for safe withdrawal of our troops, for the care and support of our returned wounded veterans, and for humanitarian aid toward the rebuilding of Iraq—to be spent under Iraqi—not U.S.—control.  She will also oppose efforts to widen the so-called “war on terror” to Iran, and other nations.
